As a Research Scientist Statistician at Metrum Research Group, you will work as part of a larger interdisciplinary team in our Quantitative Science business unit to provide decision support for our clients in the biomedical sciences. The ideal candidate will bring statistical depth and aspire to scientific breadth. Bring your knowledge of Bayesian inference, biostatistics, causal inference, and AI/ML, and let us help you apply it in collaboration with pharmacometricians, systems modelers, and data scientists to address some of the most challenging and consequential questions in biomedical research.

Responsibilities:

  • Aid in the development of strategies and the conduct of modeling and simulation to support biomedical decision making
  • Develop and apply models to inform decision making, including exposure-response and disease progression models
  • Perform quality control of modeling and simulation analyses
  • With oversight, prepare technical reports, manuscripts, and presentations
  • Present and publish scientific findings

Requirements and Skills:

  • Required: Strong proficiency with a scriptable modeling and simulation language, preferably R.
  • Desirable: In-depth experience with nonlinear mixed-effects and/or time-to-event modeling.
  • Desirable: Experience with Bayesian modeling software (e.g. Stan).
  • Desirable: Experience with causal inference conceptual frameworks and methodologies.
  • Desirable: Experience with deep learning methodologies, e.g. using TensorFlow / keras.
  • Desirable: Experience with Shiny, Markdown, LaTeX, unix/Linux, subversion, git.

Education and Experience:

  • Required: M.S. or Ph.D. Degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, or equivalent.
  • Desirable: Direct experience with quantitative analytics in biomedical applications
  • Desirable: Basic understanding of drug, biologic, device, or diagnostic research and development process

Physical Demands: The job frequently requires working at a computer terminal, standing or sitting, and the ability to operate the computer with proficiency.

Work Environment: The work environment is quiet with no adverse conditions.
